I decided on music as my theme because my family is very musical. All of us play at least one instrument. We love to get together with other musical friends and play as a group for fun. I first focused on individual instruments. I would set them up and play with different things like lighting and surroundings to get a photo I liked. I then added the musicians to the photos, displaying different aspects of playing an instrument, such as: concentration, practice, and teamwork.

Digital Assignment #12 : Patterns
Focusing on patterns helps you look beyond normal everyday scenes. I decided to focus on the shape of a circle and see what I could come up with. I ended up with a close up shot of the marbles from a chinese chekers game, and a picture of oranges in a round bowl. In both photos the circle is a prominent figure throughout, allowing a person to see a pattern and not just what the objects are.
Digital Assignment #11 : Low Key
Like high key photos, low key photos require manipulation of your surroundings and your camera settings. I wanted to photograph interesting items for low key, and highlight what I wanted to be noticed by lighting only certain parts. I used a room in my house with a black chair and then turned off the lights and used a flashlight to create the lighting that I wanted with both pictures. This resulted in mostly dark photos, with highlighted subjects.
Digital Assignment #10: High Key
High Key photos take manipulation while snapping the photo, and less is done when working on it after. The first photo I looked out the window and saw my cat. It was fairly bright and I knew i could work with the lighting to create a high key photo. I adjusted my aperture and exposure time for an even lighting and then went up two stops to blow out the background. The second photo I set up the two figures on my kitchen table in a patch of sunlight to create the lighter look.

Digital Assignment #9: Flash Strobe
The flash strobe assignment is a neat way to learn how to use lights to create your own look. By moving the flash, and placing it at different angles I can experiment with different effects of light and shadow. I enjoy this effect because I can do all the work when I am taking the photo. By taking the photo on a black background and just lighting what I want, I get the photos below, where everything but what I lit is balck without any adjustment on the computer.
